Hi I'm Anita, and I have been sewing for more than 30 years. My first sewing experience was cutting the end of my bedroom curtain when I was about 9 years old and hand stitched it into a small pouch. This didn't get me in trouble! Instead my mother encouraged and continued to teach me more basic sewing skills. From a teenager I was self-taught until I went to TAFE to study further.
In 2020 I setup my YouTube channel 'Handeela Mammy' to share basic sewing skills and develop further my creative inspirations. I created multiple DIY tutorials such as the bucket hat, tote bags, backpacks, dresses, shirts and other simple garments. As a result I have gained many supporters who have encouraged me to set up classes and sell patterns; and from there Oh Sew Kool was established.
My goal is to share my sewing skills with the community, encourage and develop children's creativity and learn practical sewing skills that might be very handy one day!
My design inspirations have usually come from my playground designer background and my Girl Guide leadership experience.
To ensure children are learning in a safe environment, I have completed the Child Safe eLearning course recommended by Office of the Children's Guardian and have a clearance number for Working with Children Check. I also developed a children user friendly safe operating procedure as part of the induction to all new learners.
